A Few Good Laughs in Scottsdale

Photo by Tracy Byrnes If you’re looking for an alternative to dinner and a movie when you’re visiting Scottsdale, head downtown. After dinner at one of the area’s many acclaimed restaurants, you can walk to The Comedy Spot, located inside The Venue Scottsdale.

This intimate stand-up comedy club only has 20 or so tables, but they pack in the patrons for a nearly two-hour show of nonstop laughs.

My husband and I recently had a front-row seat to this local hotspot. The Comedy Spot’s emcee, who happens to be a comedian, got the night off to a great start (he even joked about my husband wearing almost the same shirt he had on). Next, three different comics took the stage keeping the laughs going. Finally, it was time for the headline act, who didn’t disappoint. By the end of the show, both of our mouths hurt from smiling and laughing so much.

While at the club, each guest is required to purchase two items. This can be anything from food to alcoholic drinks to even a bottle of water. The wait staff definitely knows how to work the room without interrupting the show – a major feat in such a small space.

By the end of the night, the comedy club cost us only a few dollars more than the average cost for tickets and snacks at the movie.

As we left the club, we were pleasantly surprised to see that some of the comedians came out to mingle with the audience. With performances every Friday, Saturday and Sunday evenings, The Comedy Spot at The Venue Scottsdale offers a great alternative to dinner and a movie in Scottsdale.
