Cowgirls & Canvas

If you’re headed to the Native Arts ArtWalk on March 1, mosey on over to Expressions Gallery and say howdy to Texas artist Donna Howell-Sickles. The gallery is hosting Howell-Sickles for a one-woman show, aptly titled “Cowgirls and Canvas.”
“The Western art world is dominated by men,” says Molly McGary, Expressions Gallery owner. “But Donna holds her own with ease. She’s created a style that is uniquely hers, plus she has a stellar reputation in the art world. We’re just thrilled to have a one-woman show for her joyful work.”
The stars of Howell-Sickles’ whimsical paintings are fun-loving, hard-working cowgirls who gallop across the canvas in oversized hats, colorful bandanas and leather chaps. Each painting is a rip-roaring celebration of the legends, lore and lifestyle of the West.
“Cowgirls and Canvas” takes place at Expressions Gallery on March 1, 2012, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.
