Health in Full Bloom

Dhargya Lobsang
Hotel Valley Ho's VH Spa

Each year, Experience Scottsdale profiles a selection of local celebrities, from restaurateurs and sports figures to artists and adventurers. We invite you to meet this year’s luminaries and find out what they have to say about living, working and enjoying life in Scottsdale.

“When you look at cactus, they have these ugly thorns that protect them and help them survive,” says Dhargya Lobsang, who specializes in Tibetan Tantric Yoginic Healing at the Hotel Valley Ho’s VH Spa. “Then they bloom and give the most amazing, beautiful flowers to the world. It’s like that with people – we develop thorns to protect ourselves, but inside, our essence is so beautiful. We just need to release that essence, which is our unique gift.”

Born in Muli, Tibet, Dhargya became a monk at age seven and studied Buddhist scriptures and healing arts under his Guru, Master Ven Geshe Thumcho Sampo. Eventually, Dhargya’s path brought him to Scottsdale, where he works with people from all walks of life to heal their physical and emotional bodies.

“My work focuses on three mental poisons that create negative energy blockages in the body – attachment, ignorance and delusion,” explains Dhargya. “Once we find the blockages that are causing pain, we manipulate the Qi, or Wind, in the body to open the channels and free the blockages.” Dhargya accomplishes this through an intense combination of aided stretches and postures, massage, and acupressure on specific trigger points.

“The greatest thing about what I do is hearing what people say about the changes in their life that result from the healing work,” Dhargya says. “This work is my passion. I never tire of it.”
