Join veterans groups, color guards, performers and speakers at the American Indian Veterans National Memorial on the grounds of the Heard Museum for a special sunset tribute to veterans of the U.S. armed forces, followed by a reception inside the museum's Steele Auditorium. The scheduled keynote speaker is Dr. Richard Carmona, former U.S. surgeon general. Service and sacrifice spanning more than three centuries are honored in the first and only known national memorial to American Indian veterans of many conflicts. The memorial, located outside the collector's room of the Heard Museum Shop, consists of several sizable sculptures acclaimed by Native artists.
