The tenth annual Tour de Scottsdale, presented by Lexus, is Sunday, October 12, 2014. The event kicks off at Market Street in DC Ranch, which is located near the southeast corner of Pima Road and Thompson Peak Parkway in Scottsdale. The event features a 70-mile and 30-mile citizen’s ride.
The event beneficiary is the McDowell Sonoran Conservancy, a nonprofit conservation organization in Scottsdale that protects and promotes the McDowell Sonoran Preserve. The Tour de Scottsdale event is capped at 2,000 cyclists so register now!
You can ride any type of bike as long as you can ride it safely in large groups. Mountain bikes, recumbents and handbikes are all acceptable types of bikes. Aero-type and other similar auxiliary handlebars are prohibited; this includes tri-bikes with otherwise unremovable aerobars. Only bikes equipped with drop bars or flat bars will be allowed to ride in the event.
We have partnered with Virtual Race Bags to produce a ‘virtual goody bag’ in an effort to go green and provide additional benefits to our participants. As a participant of this year’s event you will receive an invitation email to your Virtual Goody Bag prior to the event giving you access to the bag. In your goody bag you will find an array of valuable information including exclusive offers, coupons and sponsor messages. The Goody Bag will be available here starting Saturday, October 11.
Friends and family members can follow race participants. Supporters can receive text messages and Facebook alerts with links to your progress as you ride. There will be one split location on the 30 mile course and three splits along the 70 mile ride. When riders pass a split your contacts will receive tracking alerts and can cheer you on!
