Simply put, baseball spring training is as much a part of the attraction to Scottsdale as great restaurants, world class resorts and shopping. The tradition began in 1956 when the Baltimore Orioles decided to come to sunny Arizona for their spring training. Currently, the Charros and City of Scottsdale play host to the San Francisco Giants during February and March every year, and the Scottsdale Stadium is filled to capacity for most Cactus League games.

Jake Peavy’s Woodjock: A Major League JamFest

Rockstars want to be athletes...and athletes want to be rockstars.
Just as the Woodstock festival was a historical musical moment, the inaugural Woodjock aims to be a first in music and sports history.
In the midst of the Cactus League season, musical talent from the baseball world will be highlighted on the stage. Headlined by White Sox ace Jake Peavy, ten athletes and their celebrity friends will pick up their instruments and showcase their major-league flair on a new field...a music jamfest.
The Venue in Old Town Scottsdale will host the event on March 11, 2010 with only 1,200 tickets available for sale - both general admission and VIP. In addition to the celebrity participants on stage, many players from the Cactus League teams will be in attendance to support their fellow big-leaguers.
