The tradition began in 1956 when the Baltimore Orioles decided to come to sunny Arizona for their spring training. Currently, the Charros and City of Scottsdale play host to the San Francisco Giants during February and March every year, and the Scottsdale Stadium is filled to capacity for most Cactus League games.
