Horse Events Scottsdale Style
Horse culture is as much as part of Scottsdale as world-class resorts and Spring Training. Whether it’s police officers on horseback making their way down the downtown Scottsdale streets, trotting on the trails in the McDowell Mountain Preserve, or perhaps are lucky enough to see them run wild in the Tonto National Forest, our large, four legged friends are a staple here in town. Every year, Scottsdale plays host to notable equestrian events, including The Scottsdale Polo Championships, Arabian Breeder Finals, and the Arizona Fall Championship. These events will showcase the premier horses from around the country, and offer a fun time for everyone in the family.
- Scottsdale Polo Championships: In the beginning of November, Scottsdale hosts the Scottsdale Ferrari-Maserati Polo Championships: Horses and Horsepower. Guests will get to experience a high-skilled polo game, with some of the most athletic horses and players around. Meeting the horses at the end of the game is one of the crowd favorites. Did we mention that this event also offers a sneak peek of next year’s Barrett-Jackson Collector Car Auction? Ferrari’s, Aston Martin’s, and McLaren’s line the sidelines, giving fans a chance to daydream about getting behind the wheel.
- Arabian Breeder Finals: The equine season is expected to get off to a great start at this four-day event in early October, showcasing the beautiful and distinguished Arabian horses. These horses are unlike any other horse in the herd, and visitors to the Breeder Finals will get to experience the beauty and elegance of the breed. The 2013 event will host an outstanding halter/breeding showcase where six judges will determine who receives over $89,000 in prize money.
- Arizona Fall Championship: Formerly known as the Scottsdale Classic, the Arizona Fall Championship features some of the best show horses that the country has to offer. With plenty of different classes being showed during the event, you can’t go wrong with a visit to the Arizona Fall Championships.
Fall in Scottsdale is the perfect time to get outside and take in all the events. No trip is complete without seeing something that is synonymous with the West. Make sure you experience one of these great equestrian happenings on your visit!
