Horse culture is as much as part of Scottsdale as world-class resorts and Spring Training. Whether it’s police officers on horseback making their way down the downtown Scottsdale streets, trotting on the trails in the McDowell Mountain Preserve, or perhaps are lucky enough to see them run wild in the Tonto National Forest, our large, four legged friends are a staple here in town. Every year, Scottsdale plays host to notable equestrian events, including The Scottsdale Polo Championships, Arabian Breeder Finals, and the Arizona Fall Championship. These events will showcase the premier horses from around the country, and offer a fun time for everyone in the family.

  • Arizona Fall Championship (September 24 – 28): The equine season is expected to get off to a great start at this five-day event. Formerly known as the Scottsdale Classic, the Arizona Fall Championship is now in its second year and features some of the best show horses from around the country. Circuit Champions are being offered this year and the event also promises more prizes, classes and futurities than ever before. After the overwhelming success of last year’s event and with more in store for this September, you can’t go wrong with a visit to the Arizona Fall Championships.
  • Scottsdale Polo Championships (October 25 – 26): The last weekend of October, WestWorld of Scottsdale hosts the Fourth Annual Bentley Scottsdale Polo Championships: Horses and Horsepower. This match is already America’s most well-attended polo event, but with an expanded event schedule full of adrenaline-pumping polo, this year will be all the more memorable. Experience some of the most athletic horses and polo players around. And don’t forget to check out the Larsen Art Auction and World Food Championships amidst all the action. Polo, art and food – all in one place!
  • Arabian National Breeder Finals (October 1 – 4): These beautiful and distinguished Arabian horses are unlike any other horses in the herd, and visitors to the Breeder Finals will get to experience the beauty and elegance of the breed. The Arabian National Breeder Finals presents an unparalleled halter/breeding showcase and Scottsdale serves as the perfect backdrop, having become known as a mecca for the Arabian horse. Don’t miss this exciting show, with thousands of dollars in prize money up for grabs.

Fall in Scottsdale is the perfect time to get outside and take in all the events. No trip is complete without seeing something that is synonymous with the West. Make sure you experience one of these great equestrian happenings on your visit!
