The Garden's full-service restaurant, located just inside the main entrance, honors Garden founder Gertrude Divine Webster. In 1939 Mrs. Webster, an environmentalist ahead of her time, foresaw the potential to create a distinctive identity for the Phoenix area by envisioning a need to conserve the beautiful desert.
Originally used as a greenhouse, Gertrude's occupies the fully renovated sustainable space that previously held the plant and gift shops. The repurposed restaurant boasts indoor and patio dining for 170, an exhibition kitchen, private 12-seat chef's table and expansive bar.
Gertrude's brings the best Arizona has to offer by utilizing fresh ingredients directly from the farm and pasture to the plate.
Gertrude's culinary team prepares nearly everything in house cooking dishes from scratch and utilizing multiple techniques like fermenting, curing and smoking to eliminate the need for preservatives. The seasonal menu showcases local ingredients from artisans and farmers around Arizona and the Southwest, along with herbs the restaurant grows on its patio. Gertrude's brings a new perspective on ingredients, presentation and guest experience by preparing food with integrity in an uncomplicated straightforward manner.
