Each year, Experience Scottsdale profiles a selection of local celebrities, from restaurateurs and sports figures to artists and adventurers. We invite you to meet this year’s luminaries and find out what they have to say about living, working and enjoying life in Scottsdale.
From glowing reviews in The Arizona Republic and Phoenix Magazine to a “Top 10 Restaurant Dishes of the Year” ranking in FOOD & WINE, newcomer FnB has quickly become a powerhouse on Scottsdale’s dining scene. The success of FnB, whose moniker plays on the industry term “food and beverage,” is due in large part to its trio of dedicated owners, Pavle Milic, his wife, Emily, and Chef Charleen Badman.
“The joy of good food and wine is about experiencing something beyond what you would eat every day,” says Milic. “At FnB, Charleen creates well-thought-out food that’s soulful, honest and genuine. She’s just a phenomenal chef.”
With ingredients sourced whenever possible from local, organic and sustainable purveyors, Badman creates specialties like grilled lamb tenderloin marinated in pomegranate juice and mint, and braised leeks with mozzarella and fried egg, which earned the FOOD & WINE honor. To complement Badman’s cuisine, Milic broke new ground with an all-Arizona wine list. “When you drink Arizona wine, you’re tasting the bounty of the local terroir,” he says. “These wines are purely distinctive, as they should be.
“If we can help somebody savor life a little bit more by going out to eat and enjoying a glass of wine, that is our reward,” says Milic. “Dining is just another way to slow down and enjoy life, which is really just a wink in time.”
