1. Happy Hour Hot Spots
Start your night on the town with drink specials and nicely priced apps! Hula’s Modern Tiki (above) in downtown offers island-inspired munchies starting at $3 and specials on signature cocktails like the Tropical Itch, Pink Bikini Martini and Tiki Bastard. Other happy hour hot spots include Dos Gringos, Olive & Ivy and the Pink Pony.
It’s late (really late) and you’re hungry. Where do you go? In Scottsdale, you’ve got plenty of options. Pig & Pickle’s late night menu (10 p.m. – 1 a.m.) includes the Apocalypse Sow ground pork burger, Udon Noodles with peanuts, and Buffalo Pork Wings with blue cheese crumbles. Over at AZ/88 (above), the full menu of upscale pub grub, including their famous Hell’s Fire Chips, is available until 12:30 a.m. And at Kazimierz world wine bar, you can enjoy small plates until midnight. Choose from artisan flatbreads, creamy fondues and Pulled Pork Sliders.
If you’re looking for nightlife with a Country Western flair, pay a visit to downtown’s Rusty Spur Saloon (above). The Spur offers live music seven nights a week plus a cozy dance floor for two-stepping. Also in downtown, Dierks Bentley’s Whiskey Row serves up great cocktails and live music with a contemporary country feel. And just a few minutes north of downtown, Handlebar J satisfies your yen for great country music with the Herndon Brothers Band and free dance lessons every Wednesday evening.
6. Artistic Evenings
Browse the galleries of the downtown Arts District during the free Thursday-night ArtWalk (above). Galleries stay open late (7 p.m. to 9 p.m.) and offer special exhibitions, artist receptions and live music. Nearly a dozen themed ArtWalks are held during the year, including the Native Arts ArtWalk (March), Summer Spectacular ArtWalk (July) and Holiday ArtWalk (Dec.).
ROK Social House (above) is a locally owned Korean eatery and drinking house that combines entertainment and a high-energy atmosphere with food, fashion, art and music. Executive Chef Andrew Nam’s flavorful food compliments a selection of inventive cocktails including First Love, made with Bokbunja, Rumchata, pineapple juice, soda and Orgeat syrup.
