Things for teens to do in Scottsdale
When I was growing up, hanging out at the local mall, seeing the latest box office hit at Harkins Theatres or playing hours of Nintendo or Playstation was considered the thing to do. Years later, I am here to say there are much more entertaining activities for teenagers to enjoy in Scottsdale.
For instance, I would have loved to get my motor running at F1 Race Factory. Experience that rush of excitement when driving a race car high speed 363 days a year. F1 offers everything from kart racing to rock climbing, billiards and a wide selection of video games. There is truly something for everyone, and you can be as young as 10 years old to get behind the wheel and experience a thrill. And of course it’s safe!
Teens can then reach new heights at AZ on the Rocks. If you haven’t tried indoor rock climbing before, I highly suggest you do. This unique indoor gym provides a safe, fun and challenging rock climbing environment. The gym includes 14,000 square feet of climbing terrain, over 50 top ropes, lead climbing and a large bouldering (free climbing) area. And whether it is with a sibling, boyfriend or girlfriend, or with a group of your closest friends, AZ on the Rocks offers an exciting adventure for climbers of all skill levels any day of the week.
If you prefer to stay grounded, then take a spin on the ice at the Alltel Ice Den. Most teens probably assume the Ice Den is only for hockey leagues but in actuality, it is also open for public skating, learn-to-skate and figure skating classes, and other cool activities like Teen Request Live every Friday night. Where for only $8, teens can enjoy two hours of skating, a laser light show, door prizes and a live DJ. It’s a great way to try a new sport and meet new people. Plus, the Ice Den offers a change of scenery for those of us who are used to being outside in the warm summer weather.
After trying these activities and you still favor hanging out at the mall or going see a movie, at least you are in the right place. Scottsdale offers unique ways that teens can experience these activities. They can go see the latest chick flick or action packed movie outside at the West Wind Scottsdale Six Drive-In or hit the shops at Scottsdale Fashion Square, which is the largest mall in the Southwest. Why not mix things up and experience Scottsdale the teen way?
