Upper Salt River Rafting Has Begun

Filed under: Rafting, Things To Do | By

It’s that time of year again; time to make your spring break vacation (or stay-cation!) plans! While planning your day trips out of the Phoenix area make sure to include an excursion to the warm desert beaches of the Salt River in Arizona while the rest of the country continues to experience snowy weather and cold temperatures. The Salt River snakes through the Sonoran Desert, which is one of the biggest and warmest deserts in North America and also one of the most beautiful! In the Upper Salt River Canyon, you will see saguaro cacti, a plethora of desert wildlife and the amazing 2,000-foot deep canyon walls that give it the nick name “the other grand canyon.”

Not only are the desert and canyon spectacular places to experience, but the Salt River, itself, offers fun-filled adventure for white water rafting novices and pros alike! The river drops at a consistently steep rate, which allows river aficionados to experience fun Class II and III rapids around almost every corner (literally, if you were on a city block!) and also Class IV “big drop” rapids. This intermediate Arizona rafting trip offers one of the earliest river seasons in the United States and provides family fun for ages 8 and up! Don’t miss the opportunity to experience this breath taking and fun-filled river canyon, for the Salt River’s season is short but unbelievably sweet!
