Son of a legendary Hindustani sarod maestro Ali Akbar Khan. Alam Khan has been touching the hearts of audiences worldwide for many years. Since Alam's intitial training at the age of seven in Maihar Seni Gharana, he was blessed to live and learn in the traditional guru-and-student style. His father's careful crafting and guidance show in each note as well as in Alam's imaginative way of expressing the ancient ragas passed down from the Mughal courts of Emperor Akbar by Miyan Tansen in the sixteenth century.
Alam's performance career began when he accompanied his father onstage, internationally, from 1996 to 2006. They played in such famous venues and events as the Royal Jodhpur Palace, the Dover Lane Musisc Festival in Kolkata, and the Lincoln Center Out-of-Door Festival in New York, as well as highly acclaimed concerts all over the United States, Canada, Europe, and India.
