Father's Day Weekend
Throw Papa on the Train: A Father’s Day Gift That Keeps the Journey Going — and Honors America’s 250th Anniversary
This Father’s Day, skip the expected and give Dad something unforgettable. Verde Canyon Railroad invites families to celebrate with a one-of-a-kind adventure through Arizona’s spectacular red rock Canyon—where time slows down, stories unfold, and memories are made on the rails.
Taking place June 20–21, Father’s Day train rides offer a scenic escape into a protected wilderness corridor accessible only by rail. Departing from the historic Clarkdale depot, each four-hour round-trip journey winds alongside the Verde River, crosses historic trestles, and passes through a 734-foot-long tunnel carved through solid rock—delivering a front-row seat to one of Arizona’s most breathtaking landscapes.
With three departure options throughout the weekend—11:00 a.m., 1:00 p.m., and 5:30 p.m.—guests can choose the experience that best fits their celebration, from crisp morning light to golden hour views that stretch into sunset.
Each ticket includes:
- Comfortable, living room-style seating in climate-controlled passenger cars
- Access to open-air viewing cars for panoramic Canyon views
- A curated charcuterie box with gourmet meats, cheeses, fruit, crackers, and a brownie
- A Champagne or sparkling cider toast upon boarding
- A special keepsake created exclusively for Father’s Day
More than just a train ride, Verde Canyon Railroad offers a shared experience—where families can relax, reconnect, and celebrate the father figures who have helped guide their journey.
This year’s celebration also carries added significance. As the nation approaches America’s 250th anniversary, Verde Canyon Railroad reflects on the role railroads have played in shaping the country—connecting communities, fueling progress, and carrying generations forward.
Verde Canyon Railroad has been recognized as an official Arizona America250 Passport site, one of 250 destinations selected statewide to commemorate the nation’s milestone anniversary. Guests are encouraged to explore and participate as Arizona celebrates this historic occasion leading up to July 4, 2026.
Whether Dad is an outdoor enthusiast, a history buff, or simply someone who appreciates incredible scenery, this experience delivers something far more meaningful than a traditional gift.
All aboard for Father’s Day—because the best gifts don’t come in boxes… they come with a view.
