The early fall Memory Lounge series kicks off with a very special workshop led by internationally known artist Eiko Otake. Born and raised in Japan and a resident of New York since 1976, Otake is a movement–based, interdisciplinary artist. She will perform for workshop participants in the galleries of Beverly McIver: Full Circle in Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art.
Both Otake and McIver, separately and together, have worked with themes of aging and the acts of giving and receiving care. A caregiver herself, McIver’s paintings look deeply at herself and others. Otake will lead a movement workshop, accessible to all abilities. Moving and seeing others moving, participants will learn our inherent humanity, its weight, and its beauty.
In other workshops in this series, you will meet singer-songwriter AJ Odneal and visual artists Kyllan Maney and Ellen Murray.
