Scottsdale Dia De Los Muertos - Danza De Muertos

LORE Media & Arts – Grandeza Mexicana Folk Ballet Company present a new and reimagined performance of dance, music, art, and ancestral ritual that will take audiences through the rich traditions of Dia de Los Muertos via intricately detailed movement, angles, and bold costumes that exude sheer joy, pride, and the splendor of Mexican folk dance. 

Intermixed in the program will be newly designed iconic folk art and altar offerings by Dia de Muertos specialist Lore Media & Arts. The program invites the audience to celebrate death as a natural phase in life’s continuum and to honor the sacred traditions of Mexican and Native Mesoamerican cultures. 

Dia de Los Muertos, which is celebrated throughout Mexico and around the world, centers on remembering friends and family who have passed away. 

Danza de Muertos is one of several expanded celebrations in Scottsdale presented by LORE Media & Arts in partnership with the City of Scottsdale. 

GRANDEZA MEXICANA FOLK BALLET COMPANY (GMFBC), now in its twenty-first year, is an NPO performing arts organization. The company was founded by Jose Vences in 2003. GMFBC was formed to advance the field of Mexican folk ballet, enhance the public’s appreciation for the diversity and depth of Mexican culture, and to present high-quality dance productions. Currently, Grandeza Mexicana Folk Ballet Company has more than 30 dancers. 

With signature pride in the rich national culture, GMFBC presents high-caliber dance productions that represent the diverse regions of Mexico. Whether choreographic works depict celebrations, ceremonies, or daily rituals, they are a colorful slice of the flavor of Mexico. Backed by careful research, GMFBC’s choreography is committed to preserving the traditions and customs of Mexico’s historic past and promising present.
