Join us for a special artist talk by Phillip K. Smith III, followed by an encore performance of Four Shades by Nicole L. Olson, in collaboration with intermedia artist Shomit Barua.  

About the Performance 

Four Shades is a collaboration between movement artist Nicole L. Olson and intermedia artist Shomit Barua. Inspired by the subtle shifting of colors in Phillip K. Smith III’s Three Parallels, these four dances refer to discrete moments—the distinct relationships—that exist in the continuum of human emotion. 

The original score is augmented by custom software that enables the individual cell phones of the audience to become discrete channels for spatialization and live manipulation of sonic texture.  

Please note there will be limited seating available, so plan to be standing or walking for the duration of the performance.
