Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation's K-12 Summer Camp Returns

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. (April 23, 2025) – The Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation today announced the return of its popular Camp Taliesin West for summer 2025, with a robust lineup of full-day, half-day and virtual sessions for K–12 students exploring architecture, science, engineering, art and photography—both in-person at Taliesin West, Wright’s winter home and studio in Scottsdale, and online via Zoom.

Each Camp Taliesin West session is led by trained museum educators, with a low teacher-to-camper ratio and a strong focus on interactive, project-based learning. From beginner architecture and interior design to urban planning and professional photography, the 2025 lineup offers something for every creative mind.

“We believe that curiosity is the starting point for lifelong learning,” said Abbie Wilson, youth and family programs manager at the Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation. “At Camp Taliesin West, we create a safe and inspiring space where kids can take creative risks, explore new ideas and build real-world skills—whether they’re designing dream homes, reimagining cities or capturing Wright’s architecture through a camera lens.”

Beginning in early June and running through early August, Camp Taliesin West will feature the following camps:

Advanced Architecture: Creating for Clients | Ages 12 – 16 | June 9 – 13 & July 21 - 25
Campers become junior architects in this advanced camp that explores how to design with purpose. Inspired by the real-life design process, students will tackle challenges like difficult environments, unique clients and specific building needs. Campers will create detailed architectural models, gain insight from a guest architect and experience what it’s like to bring ideas to life through thoughtful design.

Photographing Wright with Andrew Pielage (Half-Day Camp) | Ages 12 – 17 | June 9 – 13
This half-day photography camp offers a rare opportunity for students to study under acclaimed architectural photographer Andrew Pielage. Campers will learn how to use a DSLR camera to capture Taliesin West’s stunning architecture and desert surroundings. From technical skills like aperture and shutter speed to creative composition and light management, students will leave with a portfolio of captivating images and a new understanding of how photography tells a story. Campers must bring a fully manual DSLR camera and are encouraged to bring a laptop for editing.

Dream in Color: Interior Design | Ages 11 – 14 | July 7 - 11
Campers will dive into the world of interior design, learning to create beautiful, functional spaces inspired by Frank Lloyd Wright’s innovative style. They’ll explore lighting, textiles, furniture design and more before developing a full vision board and a scale model of their own completed room.

Camp Taliesin West Online: Architecture Adventure | Ages 7 – 9 | July 7 - 11
Young designers can join in on the Camp Taliesin West fun from anywhere in this engaging virtual camp designed for early learners. Students will be introduced to architecture basics through a mix of live Zoom instruction, guided projects and a virtual tour of Taliesin West. Campers will craft bubble floor plans, build 3D models and learn how Wright’s organic architecture was inspired by nature. Daily live sessions paired with at-home projects allow kids to learn, create and connect with peers in a supportive online space.

Shaping a City: Urban Planning | Ages 12 – 16 | July 14 - 18
What makes a city thrive? Campers in this program will explore the building blocks of healthy, beautiful and sustainable communities by stepping into the role of urban planners. Using Wright’s Broadacre City concept as inspiration, students will collaborate to plan and model a city from the ground up—designing residential, commercial and civic spaces that reflect both form and function.

Design Your Dream Space: Beginner | Ages 9 – 11 | July 28 – Aug. 1
Perfect for budding architects, this camp introduces Wright’s core principles and allows campers to explore architecture from the inside out.
