New fall/winter programming at Taliesin West unveiled

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. (Sept. 26, 2024) – This fall and winter, the Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation is debuting a series of new tours, public events, and interactive youth and family programs offering visitors an opportunity to explore Wright’s legacy through enriching and dynamic experiences at Taliesin West, the famed architect’s winter home in Scottsdale and National Historic Landmark.

Established in 1937, Taliesin West served as Wright’s desert laboratory and a vibrant hub for community, creativity, innovation, art and performances. Today, the Foundation continues to honor this spirit by offering engaging tours along with immersive cultural and educational experiences. Through seasonal programs, visitors are invited to explore the rich interplay between architecture and natural landscapes while learning more about Wright’s work and his lasting impact.

Available to both the public and Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation members, new offerings at Taliesin West this season include:

TOURS
Alongside popular regular tour offerings, including the Self-Guided Audio Tour and Shelters in the Desert Guided Tour, the Foundation continues to offer new ways for visitors to see and experience the site. Reservations are recommended.

Behind-the-Scenes Guided Tour | 120 minutes | Wednesday through Friday from January – May 2025 | $90 per adult, $63 per student (ages 13-25 with student ID), $45 per youth (ages 6-12)
Curious about what lies beyond the Historic Core? The Behind-the-Scenes Guided Tour offers a deeper dive with a two-hour experience that takes guests behind the ropes to exclusive areas like the Guest Deck, Apprentice Court and the Kitchen. Along the way, you’ll learn about the collections and preservation efforts at Taliesin West.

PUBLIC EVENTS
The Foundation is dedicated to creating new opportunities for visitors to experience Taliesin West through a diverse series of programming, including film screenings, sunset happy hours and hands-on workshops led by subject-matter experts.

Sunsets & Sips | October 2024 – January 2025 | Select Thursdays from 5-7 p.m. | $37 - $42 per ticket | $33.30 - $37.80 per member
Sip in style at Taliesin West’s most popular program. With sweeping city views below, enjoy the evening with a beverage in hand while mingling with others and exploring the serene outdoor pathways of Taliesin West. Each happy hour will explore one to two interior spaces, which will vary with each visit. On select dates, members will have access to a private VIP area of the property to connect with fellow members, chat with staff and savor light appetizers. In addition, on Oct. 17, author Nora Burba Trulsson and photographer Andrew Pielage will host a book signing during the event for their new book, “Taliesin West: At Home with Frank Lloyd Wright.”

Taliesin West Film Series | October 2024 – January 2025 | Once a month on select Fridays starting at 6 p.m. | $17 per adult | $15.30 per member
Experience classic cinema in a timeless setting with showings of old Hollywood favorites in the historic Cabaret Theater, originally used by Wright for performances, film screenings and artistic gatherings. The upcoming film lineup includes “The Birds,” “Double Indemnity,” “Christmas in Connecticut” and “The Apartment.”

Discovery Day | Nov. 9 | 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. | $5 per adult | Youth 12 and under free with registration
Become immersed in the exciting world of art, architecture and nature at Taliesin West at a discounted rate. Visitors will have the opportunity to explore the site at their own pace while learning about the Foundation’s work and impact through a day filled with engaging performances, family-friendly crafts, ask-me-stations and interactive demonstrations led by the Foundation’s expert staff.

Weekend Photography Workshop | Taliesin West Through Time: All Levels (Jan. 24-26, 2025 | $575 per adult | $517.50 per member) | Taliesin West Desert Living: Intermediate and Advanced Level (Feb. 21-23, 2025 | $700 per adult | $630 per member)
Dive into the art of photography with Andrew Pielage, renowned architecture and landscape photographer, with a three-day workshop capturing the essence of the World Heritage Site while exploring its architecture and surrounding desert environment. In addition to leaving with a collection of breathtaking images, participants will also receive breakfast and lunch for two days, a complimentary Self-Guided Audio Tour and the opportunity to photograph Taliesin West at sunrise and sunset. Required gear includes a laptop with a charger. Participants in the all levels class must bring a digital camera of their choice with batteries and chargers, while the intermediate and advanced class requires a fully manual DSLR camera and Adobe Lightroom Classic.

YOUTH & FAMILY PROGRAMS
For youth and families, Taliesin West offers a variety of exclusive experiences, including monthly programs for homeschoolers and seasonal day camps.

Homeschool Explorations | October – December | Monthly on select Tuesdays and Thursdays | $15 per student | Free for adult chaperone
Taliesin West invites students to explore nature, science, engineering, art and architecture through hands-on lessons inspired by Wright’s innovative principles and the breathtaking Sonoran Desert. From design-focused activities to weaving and textiles, bridge-building and structural balancing, each lesson provides a unique learning experience designed to spark creativity and curiosity, reflecting the essence of Taliesin West.

Camp Taliesin West Winter Break Camp | 1 Day Architecture Cookie Construction (Dec. 23 | $80 per youth | Ages 6–8 recommended) | 2 Day Design Spectacular (Dec. 30-31 | $160 per youth | Ages 9–11 recommended) | 9 a.m.  – 3 p.m.
Taliesin West’s trained museum educators provide an enriching STEAM education rooted in Wright’s philosophy and unique approach to design. Through an interactive environment, campers will delve into hands-on lessons taking on critical-thinking projects, including model-building and intricate crafts, encouraging participants to harness their creativity.
