‘TIS THE SEASON

HolidaysinScottsdale.com is a one-stop shop for finding all of the details on special offers and seasonal festivities, including ice skating, gleaming lights, season’s eatings and more.

THREE WAYS TO BE MERRY:

RESORT SCENE

THE BIG NEWS: Scottsdale welcomed the area’s first-ever Dark Sky Zone resort on Oct. 20, ADERO. Named after the canyon enveloping the six-story, 177-room property, ADERO comes after a $100-million investment as a Marriott International Autograph Collection resort and provides elevated amenities to connect guests to its sensational desert views and surroundings – including the famed Four Peaks and McDowell Mountain Range.

SIX MORE STAYS:

  • Canopy by Hilton has joined the arts district of Old Town Scottsdale on Oct. 1 and will be the future home of Museum Square, a 13-story hotel, condo and apartment project. This 177-room resort – the first new-build hotel in Old Town in over a decade – delivers a modern elegance, with two dining experiences prominently featuring Southwest flavors, and a rooftop pool, perfect for enjoying the desert’s unbeatable sunsets.
  • Boulders Resort & Spa Scottsdale’s expansive 5,550-square-foot certified Organic Garden is a testament to the desert’s ability to grow produce. Guests can enjoy the bounty of the winter harvest with outdoor cooking classes and garden dinners, in addition to wine receptions amidst the naturally flowing water and a mesquite-burning fireplace.
  • Mountain Shadows has unveiled new on-property experiences, including zodiac yoga and sound healing for the wellness guru, private photography hikes for those searching for awe-inspiring views and golf deals for the linksman.
  • At the base of Camelback and Mummy Mountains, relax with Joya Spa’s new Pink Himalayan Salt Stone Massage at Omni Montelucia; find balance at Sanctuary Resort & Spa with Paddle Board or Aerial Yoga; or get “spicy” at Camelback Inn Resort & Spa with new seasonal spa treatments like the Bourbon-Spice Massage, Brown Sugar + Gingersnap Body Scrub and Pumpkin Spice Pedicure.

ART + ATTRACTIONS:

THE BIG NEWS: Frank Lloyd Wright fans and architecture lovers rejoice; Taliesin West has reopened to the public. The UNESCO World Heritage Site has debuted a new Self-Guided Audio Tour that allows visitors a safe and interactive tour of the late architect’s winter laboratory and home, featuring Wright’s own spoken words from original audio recordings.

FIVE MORE THINGS TO DO:

WINE + DINE

NEW SPOTS TO SIP + SAVOR:

  • The Craftsman Cocktails and Kitchen, which specializes in hand-crafted cocktails and creative tastes, opened Oct. 15 in Scottsdale. The new neighborhood joint offers a welcoming and comfortable environment for friends and family to sample traditional dishes, signature cocktails, wine and craft beers.
  • Award-winning Café Monarch’s newest fine-dining concept, Reserve, joined the Old Town area on Oct. 22. Reserve’s intimate setting allows guests to indulge in a 12-15-course dining experience featuring world-class service, ultra-premium ingredients, in-house sommeliers and sumptuous classic cocktails.
  • Slated to open at SkySong in Scottsdale this month is Broth & Bao. This new, fast-casual restaurant with an open concept kitchen lets guests build-their-own ramen and boa bowls – and watch as chefs create each order.
  • The Americano, opened in February, blends a European style of personalized, tableside service with contemporary Italian-inspired dining. Acclaimed chef Scott Conant was announced as co-owner this fall, debuting a new menu ranging from fine steaks, to house-made pasta, Italian antipasti and Mediterranean seafoods including Italian crudi.
  • As Scottsdale’s cuisine scene grows at a rapid pace, some other recently opened, decadent eateries deserve their time in the spotlight. Don’t miss the casual atmosphere and healthy fare at Stratta Kitchen, a fine dining experience at FRANCINE, authentic Neapolitan pizza at Pizzeria Virtú, or the ultra-swanky Benjamin’s Upstairs.

WHAT’S NEXT

THREE ON OUR RADAR:

  • Ritz-Carlton, Paradise Valley – a 215-room, 20-acre new-build opening in 2021 – will have it all; exemplary service, views of Camelback Mountain, modern and sleek interiors, a 16,000-square-foot spa and a location minutes from downtown Scottsdale. The resort has pivoted amid construction to incorporate new safety measures and features, such as the installation of Plasma Air in every guestroom and common space, to reduce airborne viruses and bacteria.
  • Projected for a 2021 opening, The Palmeraie, a $2-billion master-planned community, will be home to more than 60 luxury and specialty boutiques, and numerous dining outlets, with the luxurious Ritz-Carlton hotel at its center.
  • This season, the popular L.A. massage concept, The NOW Massage is coming to Scottsdale. The boutique space offers a reimagined approach to a luxury neighborhood spa with therapeutic services and custom enhancements.
