Enjoy Saguaro Lake Ranch Activities! On the banks of the Lower Salt River, you’ll find the Saguaro Lake Ranch Horseback Riding Stables and Kayaking/Rafting Beach, where guests are introduced to the most exciting way to experience the Tonto National Forest.
There is no better way to escape the city and marvel at the beautiful wilderness within the Tonto National Forest than to float on the Lower Salt River! As you head down the river below thousand-foot cliffs and beside majestic Saguaro Cacti in the Sonoran Desert, keep your eyes open. You could see wild horses, deer, great blue herons, osprey, bald eagles, and other native wildlife. Our sit-on-top kayaks are very stable and easy to maneuver; after a fifteen-minute orientation, even beginners are ready to go! Enjoy scenic floating on the Salt River, with just enough ripples to get you wet. We offer kayaking on Saguaro Lake as well.
From the ranch, you can experience the “Old West” the real cowboy way – on horseback. You’ll find some of the best horseback riding trails in all of Arizona right on our doorstep. Our experienced wranglers provide guided trail rides through the Sonoran Desert in the majestic Goldfield Mountains along saguaro cactus-studded ridges, across and along the Lower Salt River, into dry arroyos, and up the creosote-covered hills that overlook Saguaro Lake. We offer 60 minute, 90 minute and two hour guided tours during the riding season.
An easy drive to Saguaro Lake Ranch for locals and visitors alike, this is undoubtedly one of Arizona’s premier outdoor adventure locations. The area also features great mountain biking, road cycling and Hummer/ATV Tours. Overnight guests staying at the ranch can enjoy hiking trails, fishing (AZ license required), bird watching, swimming or just relaxing on the lawn and gazing at the majestic Bulldog Cliffs.
