Everyone loves a Sunday Funday – a day to kick back, relax and spend time with friends and family. Whether you’re looking for inspirational activity ideas or are simply wondering what’s open on Sundays in Scottsdale, here are some of our favorite ways to wrap-up the weekend!
BOUNTIFUL BRUNCHES
Brunching is a favored Sunday Funday pastime in Scottsdale, thanks in large part to an abundance of airy, sun-dappled patios and innovative food and drink options at our best restaurants. From Latin-inspired feasts and kid-friendly treats to fruity mimosa flights and build-your-own Bloody Marys, check out all the reasons why On Weekends, We Brunch.
POWERHOUSE SHOPPING
When it comes to shopping on a grand scale, Scottsdale’s trifecta of powerhouse centers doesn’t disappoint. In Old Town, Scottsdale Fashion Square (pictured) delights with 200+ designer boutiques, department stores, restaurants and a luxury cinema – all under one roof in climate-controlled comfort. In North Scottsdale, you’ll find two open-air shopping destinations that are perfectly suited for Scottsdale’s sun-drenched lifestyle. Both Kierland Commons and Scottsdale Quarter offer many of the national brands you love as well as one-off local retailers and top-shelf dining options.
ATTRACTIONS & MUSEUMS
Scottsdale’s attractions and museums will help you keep the "funday" vibes going all Sunday long! Learn about creatures of the world at Butterfly Wonderland, OdySea Aquarium or The Phoenix Zoo. Explore the beauty of arid-land plants at the Desert Botanical Garden or marvel at desert-inspired architecture at Frank Lloyd Wright’s Taliesin West (pictured). And if it’s the arts you love, we’ve got you covered there, too, from the magic of the Musical Instrument Museum and Western Spirit: Scottsdale’s Museum of the West, to cutting-edge art at Wonderspaces Arizona and the Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art.
OUTDOOR FUN
If your Sunday Funday plans include getting some fresh air, Scottsdale’s McDowell Sonoran Preserve offers more than 230 miles of shared-use trails for hiking and mountain biking. Over at MacDonald’s Ranch, you can saddle-up for fun on a trail ride. Or, if you prefer a more urban adventure, rent an electric bike from Pedego Scottsdale and take a two-wheeled tour of Old Town (top of page) or the Indian Bend Wash Greenbelt.
ALL-DAY HAPPY HOURS
Sundays are about to get a lot more fun with all-day happy hour specials at select Scottsdale restaurants! Wrap-up your weekend with nicely priced tropical cocktails (think classic Mai Tais, Lilikoi Margaritas or Pink Bikini Martinis) at Hula’s Modern Tiki in Old Town Scottsdale from 10:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Over at Lure Fish House, pair seafaring small plates like fried oysters, crab cakes and spicy shrimp tacos with discounted wine, beer, well drinks and specialty cocktails from 11:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sundays. And although it’s not technically a happy hour, K O’Donnell’s features drink specials all day on Sunday, including specialty mules, domestic drafts and the ever-popular Bucket of Bubbles.
